Be A Part Of Positive Change & Growth In OUR Community

By: Josh Cross, CEO & President of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce

Our Atascadero community is growing, changing, and blossoming! If you take a walk through downtown, you’ll notice that it looks different than years prior. There are more businesses and more people shopping and having fun (our downtown is hoppin’, especially on Friday and Saturday nights!). Now more than ever before, businesses have the opportunity to connect with our community both in person and online. So there’s an opportunity for community members like you to support and lead positive change in Atascadero by joining a Chamber Council (if you’re not a Chamber Member yet, click here to learn more!).

There are six different councils and committees that you can apply to join. You’ll find them listed below, along with a description of how you’ll be helping the community in that council. You can apply to join one or multiple councils; applications to join the councils close in mid-September.

The Ambassador Council:
Our Ambassadors are the official greeters for the City of Atascadero. They provide an enthusiastic welcome and offer assistance to new businesses in the City. They visit, recognize, and thank existing Chamber businesses, attend ribbon cuttings for new business owners, and assist with Chamber-sponsored events and programs. Ambassadors meet once a month to provide feedback from their business visits, adopt new Chamber members, and share ideas on how we can become greater supporters and promoters of business in Atascadero.

The Diversity Council:
An inclusive council dedicated to empowering our business community by celebrating diversity through education and kindness. They welcome committed and engaged speakers and community members to work with them and seek mutual support. Their goal is to empower our business community by fostering awareness of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The Economic Prosperity Council:
This council was formed to advance the Chamber’s strategic goals focused around business retention, expansion, and attraction. Economic prosperity can be achieved through a process of targeted activities and programs that work to enhance the quality of life of our community by building local wealth, diversifying the economy, creating and retaining jobs, and building the local tax base.

The Legislative Affairs Council:
This council aims to represent the business community’s interests in local, state, and federal legislative issues and communicate those interests to members, the community, and elected officials. Members network with the Council and City Staff informally to improve communication. In addition, the council hosts monthly speakers on local and county issues.

The Wine & Beer Event Planning Committee:
This committee leads the way in supporting and driving business to local downtown shops and wineries, breweries, cideries, and distilleries across North County. Members are responsible for planning and orchestrating the Atascadero Lakeside Wine Festival, Wine Passport, and assisting with the Art, Wine & Brew events.

Women’s Business Council:
A women’s network dedicated to helping women achieve, succeed and prosper by connecting and promoting women and their businesses. The Women’s Business Council provide resources and often partner to host Leader Lunches to empower its to achieve career success and financial security. The council also offers scholarships to women who are planning to continue their education.

Our community wants to hear your ideas, and together we can make a positive impact on our Atascamazing community! To join, simply go to www.atascaderochamber.org/committees and scroll down to the bottom of the page to register.
