5th District Supervisor, Debbie Arnold
As the winter season winds down, I really want to thank the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce for organizing another wonderful Annual Dinner. It is something that I look forward to every winter, when so many from the business world join community leaders for a wonderful evening of great food and great company. This year was no exception, and the Chamber did a wonderful job. We were all treated to a beautiful night at the Pavilion. Congratulations to all those that received special recognition, and a big congratulations to Terrie Banish for being named Atascadero Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Citizen of The Year.
We’ve had a relatively dry winter this year. Although we need the rain, there has been a lot of building activity continuing through the winter months in Atascadero’s business district. Thanks to the Chamber for helping the City attract new businesses and showcase existing business. I look forward to seeing many of the projects that are in progress throughout town be completed, bringing more exciting businesses to Atascadero.
This is really an amazing time for Atascadero, and I am so happy to see the Strategic Action Plan Team at the County working with Atascadero and all other cities to create a jobs/housing balance. With affordable housing on everyone’s mind, the County and the cities have been working together to help all the communities meet their state mandates when it comes to housing. I have never seen this much collaboration before, and by working together we will be able to create more sensible housing solutions.
On another topic, the Novel Coronavirus has been in the news a lot lately. The County Public Health Department has been carefully monitoring this matter. They are in close contact with State and Federal health agencies and assure the County that the risk to the general public here remains low. Although there are currently no cases of this new coronavirus illness, our Public Health Department is ready to handle any potential cases. If you have questions regarding this, please call the Public Health Department at 805-781-5500. You can also find updated information here.
If you need further information, please contact my office at 805-781-4339. It is such an honor to represent you as 5th District Supervisor.
