As we move into the new year, the Atascadero Chamber is as busy as ever. The new office and workspace have proven to be successful, and the Annual Chamber Dinner once again showcased how special the Chamber and its members are to the community. There were several very exceptional people recognized at the annual dinner. Congratulations to Jeannie Malik, 2018 Atascadero Citizen of the Year, for her dedication and commitment to making Atascadero an even better place. It was wonderful to see Mike and Charlotte Byrne recognized for their years of devotion to the homeless population in our community. Gary Bojan, Ambassador of the Year and Farron Walker, Entrepreneur of the Year received well deserved recognition from the Chamber as they help showcase Atascadero businesses.
Congrats to Geoff and Kate Auslen, owners of Glenn’s Repair & Rental for being named Business of the Year. Glenn’s Repair was also honored in 2018 for being the oldest retail business in Atascadero as it marked it’s 50 Year Anniversary. Glenn’s was also recognized nationally in 2018, receiving a Platinum Award from Honda’s Green Deal Program.
Last, but not least, I want to give a shout out to my dear friend Ray Johnson for being recognized by the Chamber with a Lifetime Member Award. Ray and Helen Johnson have given so much to the community. It was exciting to see Ray honored for his dedication.
Sitting in the beautiful Pavilion building that evening, surrounded by so many people who give of themselves to better their community was a heartwarming experience. So, another congratulations to all of the people that really make Atascadero such an extraordinary place. We are all blessed to have such a place to call home!
It’s an honor to represent the 5th District.
