Twenty-nine years ago, a group of friends and neighbors from Atascadero sat down together to create something special for our community. What they built has become one of the most beloved and iconic wine festivals on the Central Coast. You can probably guess what this festival is, it’s the Atascadero Lakeside WineFest that we all know and love! Led by Barbie Butz, the founding group gathered with one mission; to create a sense of community for locals that showcases the incredible wineries that we have right here in North County.

A Different Kind Of Wine Festival

While some wine festivals are known for their stuffy views of wine or crowded lines with tents in large lots, the Atascadero Lakeside WineFest took its festival in the opposite direction. Nestled beneath the shade of beautiful, expansive oak trees, with lakeside views and even a zoo, this wine festival is beautiful, relaxed, and interactive. Booths are spread out across Atascadero Lake Park and Central Coast Zoo, reducing lines and crowds. Here, you can easily chat with local winemakers about the wine they’re pouring or pull up a chair and relax with their wine while some music plays in the background. It’s also common to see entire families from the community. Kids are always welcome, and they really enjoy the zoo experience that the festival includes. (After all, who doesn’t want to see adorable red pandas or lemurs?)

A Festival That Gives Back

Did you know that every ticket purchased helps support Atascadero’s zoo and other local non-profits like the Atascadero Chamber? The zoo is home to about 100 animal species found around the world and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (the gold standard for zoos, ensuring the highest level of animal welfare). Their animals are part of globally managed conservation programs. They’re a great place for families to learn about and enjoy wild animals!

Funds from this festival also support your local Chamber. Your Chamber provides resources to local businesses to help them thrive. They also lead great community-focused events, and programs like Jr. CEO, Sip & Shops, Shop Local Bonus Program, and more! Your sips go towards great causes, it’s a win – wine!

This Year’s Wine Festival

Join us on Saturday, June 13th, for a different kind of wine festival. One that celebrates our community, takes things slower, and encourages connection and exploration. A true local’s kind of festival.

  • Try over 60 award-winning wineries and talk with the people behind the wines in your glass. Or, cheers with family and friends with some craft beer or cider.
  • Take a break to grab some food from the lineup of food trucks, and enjoy some music while you dig in.
  • Stroll through artisan booths and find some unique treasures.
  • Get up close and personal with wildlife at the Roar & Pour Experience in the zoo portion of the festival.

The Atascadero Lakeside WineFest is more than just the wine; it’s all about the people. Our community together in one place, celebrating and enjoying all the things that make the Central Coast the best place to call home. To purchase your tickets visit,  www.atascaderolakesidewinefestival.com or visit the Atascadero Chamber office, Monday – Friday during open hours, to purchase your tickets in person.
