With the spread of the latest wave of COVID-19 infection, due in part to the highly contagious Delta variant that has taken hold locally, Dr. Penny Borenstein, County of San Luis Obispo Health Officer, strongly recommends masking in indoor and crowded outdoor settings. According to Dr. Penny Borenstein, “The Delta variant is sweeping quickly through our community and we need every tool we have to stop it… While vaccines remain our best tool against COVID-19, masking in indoor and crowded outdoor settings will help us curb the spread of this latest wave of infection.”
- It is advised that people wear a mask in an indoor setting like grocery stores, retail stores, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, and others even if they are fully vaccinated.
- Businesses are urged to adopt universal masking for customers entering indoor areas of their business to provide better protection to their employees and customers.
