Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday Season
By: 5th District Supervisor, Debbie Arnold
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season. It is wonderful to see Atascadero resume the festive holiday events that we all look forward to.
I always enjoy the traditional lights in Sunken Garden contrasted against the background of the Rotunda building. And the newer trail of lights tour map is a wonderful addition that showcases beautiful holiday light displays which can be enjoyed throughout the city. The Winter Wonderland event is an activity that brings snow-related fun for all ages to downtown Atascadero.
I appreciate the tremendous community effort it takes to once again make Atascadero a magical place during the holiday season.
The County is finally completing the process of redistricting of our Supervisorial districts. This process is legally mandated every ten years to equalize the population across the districts. California state legislation has passed since the last redistricting in 2011, establishing new legal criteria for redistricting.
Though there will be changes to the district lines, I will continue to represent the district I was elected in (former District 5), which includes the city of Atascadero until the end of my term in January 2025.
The County continues to reach out to businesses to provide support for losses due to Covid. In January there may be another opportunity for small business grants. Please feel free to call my office for information on how to apply or go to readyslo.org.
It is an honor to serve as your 5th District Supervisor.

5th District Supervisor, Debbie Arnold
Debbie Arnold moved to San Luis Obispo County in 1973 to attend Cal Poly, she fell in love with both her husband, Steve, and the farming and ranching values that had been a part of the Arnold family way of life for more than 5 generations. While raising two children, she owned and operated a small business in Atascadero for more than 17 years. She then had the privilege of advocating for local families as a Legislative Aide at the County Supervisor’s office and as a San Luis Obispo District Representative for the State Senate. During these years, she worked with a broad range of community groups and interests, bringing people together to solve problems.
