Navigating September

By: Dr. Lisa Vasak from Dignity Health Urgent Care

September is here! Distance learning is back and the kids are still home. Puzzles remain in short supply. Gyms are closed and the COVID-19 weight gain is a reality. Grocery stores are struggling to restock quarantine items such as yeast and toilet paper.  Netflix binge-watching is becoming old. Unfortunately, COVID-19 is not going away anytime soon. The “new normal” is slowly emerging into our lives.

During these changing times, it is important to remember to not put off your health care needs. Flu shot season is here. Everyone is highly encouraged to get a flu shot.

The incident of depression has increased during the pandemic. Please reach out to your health care provider if you or someone close to you is suffering from worsening depression and/or anxiety.  There are resources in the community and health care systems to help support your mental health needs.

As we all continue to navigate our way through September, 2020, let’s keep supporting our family and friends in all parts of their lives. Stay well, get a flu shot, and keep wearing your mask!
