Staying Vigilant About Your Health In The Summer

By: Dr. Lisa Vasak from Dignity Health Urgent Care

Summer is here! Unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic is also still here, so as businesses reopen, it’s important to continue being vigilant about hand washing, wearing masks, and social distancing, including isolating yourself if you begin to feel ill. If you are not feeling well, don’t delay in getting the care you need. In the North County, we also need to take into account rising temperatures and fire safety. Due to most large events being canceled because of COVID-19, there will likely be more family outings, barbecuing and camping so be mindful of the high fire risks and hot temperature health risks.

All homeowners are asked to do aggressive clearance of brush away from their properties.  Take extra precautions with barbecues, fire pits and fireworks (in cities where they are allowed), especially when it’s windy.  And as a physician, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the importance of wearing sunblock daily and staying hydrated with plenty of water. 2020 has been a challenging year thus far but let’s make the best of this summer by doing our part to stay safe and healthy.
