Summer is here, and North County is experiencing the summer heat. However, many appreciate the weather because the evenings are so beautiful at the end of a hot day.
San Luis Obispo County continues to be a tourist attraction for people all over the state, and Atascadero is undoubtedly one of the County’s gems. Many are enchanted by Atascadero’s beauty and small city charm.
The County Public Health and Social Services Departments continue to work hard on the homeless issue affecting cities throughout the County. This year, millions of dollars have been distributed to expand services to help those who experience chronic homelessness. I realize this issue is vital to businesses throughout Atascadero. It is a very challenging issue, and the County continues to support Echo Shelter and other non-profit partners to find solutions.
It is time for another North County tradition, the California Mid-State Fair. The Fair is another example of a unique County event that draws people from all over the state. In addition to the music and entertainment attractions, the Fair provides terrific opportunities for our local youth. From 4-H and FFA programs to vocational educational offerings, young people and families gather annually to show and sell animals and display welding, carpentry, mechanical, food, and art projects. In other areas of the fairgrounds, equestrian competitions and working dog trials showcase San Luis Obispo County culture.
I hope everyone takes advantage of all the summer offers in Atascadero–this beautiful place we call home.
