Working Together
By: Tom Jones, 2020 Chair of the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Board
It never ceases to amaze me how strong OUR community is when we come together to support each other. Our Coffee Talk series only happened because individuals chose to work together with us and share their expertise and insight with other businesses. The Chamber team and I love to see our community learning from each other and growing.
Recently, the Chamber team also launched the Virtual Library, which is another way we’re working to connect our community and share valuable resources. You’ll be able to find past Coffee Talk episodes, short clips with business strategies and more. Our goal is to update this source regularly with information that can help local businesses thrive.
Our aim to build connections and share resources doesn’t stop there. Our incredible Diversity Council has recently launched DiversityWorks, a program that includes webinars, workshops, additional resources and more. Their goal is to empower our business community to celebrate diversity through education and kindness. If you haven’t attended a webinar, I would highly recommend it, the speakers the council works with are phenomenal.
Speaking of empowering, with the November election fast approaching, we want to empower all Atascadero voters with information regarding the candidates on the ballot for City Council and City Mayor. Which is why we’re hosting a City Council Candidates Virtual Forum and a Mayoral Candidates Virtual Forum. During these two events, we’ll be asking the candidates some of the questions submitted to us by our community.
This teamwork extends well past webinars and online resources. We’ve partnered with OUR community over the past summer to host phenomenal events like Atascopoly, and Summer Eats. For these events, hardworking businesswomen and men stepped up to partner with us. Then residents came out to support the local businesses. We can’t thank those who supported us enough, whether through event sponsorship, partnership, or participation. Together, we had a fun summer.
Last but not least, I want to acknowledge the teamwork found in the business leaders that sit on the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce Board. Our board is full of passionate and hardworking members in OUR community. These folks spend all day working at all different businesses and then come together to support the Chamber in its mission to empower OUR business community. Now, that’s what I call teamwork!
I share all of these examples, hoping that they serve as an inspiration to what we can achieve when we all work together. After all, OUR community is stronger together
